Top 8 Tips For a New YOU in 2022: Try Something New

To start a New You in 2022, there surely is no better or easier way than simply trying something new. Although, we say easy and simple, however, trying something new can seem, hard, scary, and sometimes even risky, but it's also how we grow. It's how we learn and how we truly know what we like or don't like! 

As parents we're always encouraging our children to try new vegetables, meet new friends, try a new sport, but do we hold ourselves to the same Philosophy? 

Why as adults, do we feel like there is nothing new to try, when the reality is we've just become stuck in our ways, and there is a whole world out there for us to discover. Is it time we start practicing what we preach?

Science also backs up the theory, that people that try new things, live the happiest and healthiest lives! 

Cognitive Psychologist, Gary Marcus writes for CNN about the benefits of learning and trying new things: 

“As Aristotle realized, there is a difference between the pleasures of the moment (hedonia), and the satisfaction that comes from constantly developing and living one’s life to the fullest (eudaimonia). In recent years, scientists have finally begun to study eudaimonia. Research suggests that the greater sense of purpose and personal growth associated with eudaimonia correlates with lower cortisol levels, better immune function, and more efficient sleep.”

It makes sense that our health would be positively impacted by new experiences. The brain is being stimulated which is what it was designed to do. A happy brain makes a happy body!
